Preferred Rewards Cards
The very tight competition in the business world has led many companies to develop strategies to keep their customers happy and contented. Businesses know the importance of keeping satisfied customers. Satisfied customers will not only be loyal but will also refer other customers. One of these schemes is the preferred rewards cards or loyalty cards. How does a preferred reward card or loyalty card works? It simply encourages customers to continue using a product or service through rewards schemes. Every time a customer uses the service or buys the product, points are stored on the card and the customer can them redeem these points for items and services. Discounts can also be offered for a particular product or service. Because it is easier to retain customers than attract new ones, a loyalty card is proven to be an effective marketing strategy. Loyalty cards are also known as points cards, rewards cards, club cards or advantage cards. Wikipedia defines a loyalty program as a structured marketing effort which provides rewards to encourage a loyal buying attitude among customers. A retailer or store issues the loyalty card to customers. The customers then use the card as identification when visiting or making a purchase to that store or retailer. The loyalty card may also be used by retailers to access basic information such as the customers' name, address, contact information and other details. The information is provided by the customers when they fill up the application form for that loyalty card. There are several types of rewards or loyalty programs. The more common type of loyalty program is the points-based program. In this program, point accumulates every time a customer buys a product or service and the customer can then redeem these points. One advantage of a points-based program is that it encourages customers to return and buy more of the company's products and services. Another type is the preferred customer program. In this type, a discount is offered for a particular item. An item is promoted in a store and a discount is given when customers show their loyalty cards to the cashier when already paying for the item. One advantage of this kind of rewards program is that it requires less marketing effort for the retailer. The retailer will just promote the product on site and it's up to the customer to make the final decision. Another advantage of this program is that it helps retailers to track the buying behavior of customers. On the customers' side, this kind of loyalty program offers instant pleasure to the customers. With so many preferred rewards cards available out there, customers may find themselves confused in choosing the right one for them. You should always assess your spending or purchasing habits before selecting a rewards card. If you do not have a car, you will not profit from a card which gives rewards for spending on gasoline. |
